Alright, it's only 3 more sleeps until the Boulderfields "ROCK THE BLOCS" Boulderfest!
This baby is really picking up steam. It's looking like we'll have a great turnout of locals and travelers, volunteers and competitors, large and small, young and old, you get the idea. We've got over $700 worth of prizes lined up for the day, tons of great boulder problems, categories for all abilities, 3 trail projects, and hopefully a good ol' time for everyone. With the weather looking like crap for most of the week and Saturday possibly holding the best weather in about a week (fingers triple crossed), I think people are going to be twitching and shaking to get their bouldering fix by the weekend.
Over the course of this week, a small crew of us (Staci, Aaron, Jay, and I) has been working super hard to get everything ready to roll. From making and printing scorecards to gathering prizes, cleaning up and climbing problems to making and painting signs, then running around the Fields and putting them all in, we've been busy! But, man are we getting excited. It's already looking much nicer in the Fields with directional signs and boulder names all over the place. Nobody should be lost in there anymore! And that's just the beginning of what should be great improvements to the bouldering experience in the Fields by the end of the boulderfest.
Moral of the story, ROCK THE BLOCS should be a great time and we hope to see everyone there. The day starts at 9:45am with a quick comp rules meeting, followed by the comp starting at 10am (ending at 5pm) and the trail crews heading out just after 10am. Don't forget to try and carpool up to the Fields (we have a good amount of parking, but not by mall standards), and bring up your food and drink for the fire/ social after the comp if you plan on sticking around for a bit. Also, don't forget that there is free camping at the Fields and you'll need access to a Boulderfields bouldering guide to find the problems and descriptions. They're for sale at BTC Climbing Gym, True Outdoors and I'll have some up at the comp.

Keep those fingers crossed for good weather and get pumped for a beauty day!
